Mug for the camera.

When I was a kid and would ask my mom what she wants for an upcoming birthday or the holidays, she would tell me something homemade. I thought she was just saying that because it was the “mom” thing to do or because she already knew I would give her a letter or some fugly clay jewelry box/ashtray that I made in 2nd grade art class.

Let me show you the masterpiece that I drew when I was 5. I’d like to present “An orange sitting on a rock”. Let me tell ya, you’ve never seen an orange sitting on a rock until you’ve seen my interpretation:

For my birthday earlier this month, my husband gave me a mug that says mom which the little hummingbird painted. Even though I’ve been a mother for almost 3 years, there are times when I still feel like it’s kind of surreal. Seeing this mug and knowing my little girl painted it turned me into mush and got me all teary eyed.

Sure it’s a little funky and looks like it has mustard blotches on it and Barney’s purple blood but it’s the best present I’ve ever received. I look forward to several years of odd-looking yet meaningful presents that my daughter gives me.

Of course the little hummingbird wanted to slow me down help me get a picture of the mug.

The hummingbird loves jumping in puddles and my husband was recently out with her and bought her some waterproof pants. He didn’t realize just how huge they were so when she wears them she looks like a cross between an Oompa Loompa and M.C. Hammer….Oompa Loompa doopity doo….

My hubby has been doing his part by teaching our daughter about life. He’s gotten her to say Yo, what’s up! Forget me teaching her the alphabet and colors, she can say Yo! and do the stance.

I’ve been teaching her the importance of Zombie safety. Aaaaggghhhhh!!!! Zombies are coming….

    She is just adorable!

So do you think it’s bad if we’ve taught our daughter to say “Whatchoo talkin’ ’bout, Willis??”

I think that saying is a must and now I have to teach the hummingbird that. It helps that I can get back at my hubby at the same time. 😉

Our cousin teaches her child to swear on command. So this is not so bad. 🙂 The other day, my father/babysittter told Will he needed to clean up puzzles before making another mess and Will says, “are you kidding me?”

Lol! That’s hilarious. Thehummingbird is big on saying HEY whether it’s a woman bumping into our shopping cart or my husband taking a bite of her dinner. 🙂

OMG, Ariel FREAKS OUT if anyone were to even MENTION taking a bite of her dinner. Especially if she’s NOT eating it and we try to offer it to Will. The only good thing about it is that if she’s not eating it sometimes gets her to eat. LOL
