Eco-Friendly Finds

Disclaimer: Don’t feel shitty if your not as eco-friendly as you could be. My 3 year-old got a big plastic sandbox for her birthday. It’s right by our compost pile. Okay, we don’t have a compost pile.

Over the weekend while I was hard at work writing (read: watching Crazy, Stupid, Love for the millionth time and talking on Google IM), I found myself on Etsy. When I want to look at pretty things, I go to Peenterest, but if I want to look at pretty things AND have the actual cost right in front of me, I go to Etsy. That way it’s not as addicting as Pinterest. Okay it is but I had to wrap up this paragraph somehow.

Sprig Front Loader –

I got two of these for my daughter’s birthday and she loves playing with them in her sandbox. They’re very sturdy and can handle the clutches of a 3 year-old. Sprig toys are made from recycled wood and reclaimed plastic.

Beeswax and Soy Blend Twist-Up Crayons

These crayons are a great alternative to the more popular ones. They’re 100% natural and are only made up of beeswax, soy wax, candelilla wax, and a bit of chalk. This company also makes natural, gluten-free play dough, scented with chamomile essential oil, as well as natural and organic paint scented with French lavender essential oil.

Reusable Sandwich Bags

These are great to use for lunch or snacks on the go. You can choose from several different fabric patterns and there’s a choice of 3 linings for the reusable sandwich bags. For a few dollars more you can also get a zipper added on.

Insulated Lunch Bags

I am in love with this lunch bag. The owls are so cute! This lunch bag is durable and has a hook and loop closure. There’s a pocket on the inside to keep small items. There are many patterns to choose from and the company also makes some really fabulous tote bags.

Insulated Cup Cozy/Coffee Sleeve

Instead of using those cardboard sleeves for your favorite hot drink, give this a try instead. It’s made from 100% organic cotton and is reversible. This would be great to use with a hot cup of tea and a good book right before bed.

Reusable, Eco Friendly Snapping Paper Towel Set

When it comes to being enviromentally friendly, the one thing that’s been hard for me to completely give up are paper towels. When I laid my eyes on these the other night, I may have squealed with excitement. Each set has 12 “paper” towels that snap together. There are several pattern options and the towels are made from 100% cotton and terry cloth. I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Due to demand, the wait for these paper towels is about 8 weeks so order as soon as you can.

Plum/Purple Medium Handbag with Aqua Blue Lining

I’ve developed a weakness for purses. That and shoes but with purses, it doesn’t matter if you’re a size 2 or 8 months pregnant, a purse will always fit! The color of this purse is absolutely gorgeous and it’s made from organic cotton fabrics. If you would prefer another color, the company is more than happy to work with you.

Bumbly’s Rough Around the Edges Lotion Bar

Treat yourself to these wonderful lemon-scented lotion bars. These bars soften at body temperature and in just a few minutes, the mositurizing goodness absorbs into your skin. These lotion bars are made up of only 6 ingredients, all of which you can pronounce, unlike other lotions. To that I say hooray! Bumbly’s also has other products, including an all purpose balm for problem skin.

What are some of your favorite eco-friendly products?

The paper towels are expensive and I had sticker shock at first but when I think about how much I spend on regular paper towels every month, these eco-friendly ones will pay for themselves in no time. 🙂

I can’t wait to get some more. 🙂 I hope you don’t mind that I submitted this post to another site I write for (whattheflicka.com) and it will probably go live over there in the next week or so.
