Sticky Chicken Drumsticks

I made this last night and damn, it was delicious. Really flavorful and comforting. I got the recipe from this cookbook.

I fucked the chicken up at first. Not like I beat the shit out of it or anything but I let this asshole chicken know who’s boss. I finally got it cooked and changed the baking directions below so you won’t have to eat at 9:30 pm.  :^)

What you’ll need:

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup Chinese barbeque sauce (char sui)

3 garlic cloves, finely chopped (or minced)

1 tablespoon finely chooped (or minced) peeled fresh ginger

12 drumsticks

2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted

Mix the soy sauce, barbeque sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger in a resealable storage bag to blend. Add the chicken, seal the bag, and toss to coat with the sauce. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour but preferably overnight.

Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with heavy-duty foil. Transfer the drumsticks and sauce into the foil lined pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes, turning over half way through cooking. I turned the broiler on low and let the chicken brown for another 5 minutes or so. Add the sesame seeds. This would also be great on the grill.
