My husband just pointed this story out to me tonight. I’ve never heard of zorbing until now. Watching this video left me horrified but at the same time, I wanted to smack the shit out of these men. I’ve heard at least one of them is dead. Horrible.
Now excuse me while I go strap myself in a hamster ball and roll down a mountain of snow.

Actually, Zorbing is awesome amounts of fun. The problem here is that the set-up was unsafe in the first place. I read the article about this, and apparently they have a lot of safety issues in these areas with the skiing as well because the government is too concerned with getting in tourist dollars to properly monitor safety.
My husband and I did Zorbing on a trip to New Zealand last year. The course was grass, a gentle slope that was fenced on both sides and also closed-off at the end so that there was no way for the zorb to go off the track. It was way more fun than it looks.
Although, I didn’t know the name, I’ve seen that kind of zorbing before and you’re so right. It looks fun and I would give that a try. But snow and a big ball don’t seem to mix.
I saw the story but was afraid to watch the video. It’s just tragic, no silly activity is worth dieing over. I’ve heard of people dieing when bungie cords break too. So sad.
