Candy Flavored Vodka…. Taste The Rainbow!

Candy flavored vodka? Oh, yeah! Bring it on! I’ve seen this around for a while but didn’t try it out for myself until a few months ago.

When my husband came home and saw all the mason jars I had, he looked confused. “You’re doing some canning?!” he said. When translated, it means “Where in the hell is my wife and what have you done with her?”

When I told him the only canning I’m doing involves making candy flavored vodka, that made much more sense to him.

I didn’t really follow a particular recipe with this. I used about half a cup to a full cup of candy and put it in the mason jar filled about halfway with vodka. Basically, I picked out all the orange skittles in the bag and that was how many I used in the flavored vodka.

You can use several different kinds of candy you can think of. Lemonheads, SweetTarts, Skittles, etc. I tried gummi Lifesavers but it turned into a big glob and tasted nasty.

For my flavored vodka, I used peppermints, orange Skittles, and lemon SweetTarts. I let the vodka sit with the candy in the mason jars for 2 days. Then I strained the vodka using a cheesecloth into clean mason jars and Voila!

It’s time to get your drink on!

My favorite ended up being the orange Skittles vodka followed by the lemon SweetTart one. The peppermint vodka was good but reminded me of peppermint schnapps which reminded me of high school and barfy times.

Wow, why didn’t I try this when I was younger? This is the best idea since sliced bread… sliced vodka-soaked bread…
