Want to make a robot helmet? No?! Well, too bad.

rh44UPDATE: Some have been asking about the little hummingbird and her hospital stay. Haven’t had time to wrap my mind around it or write. Let’s just say we’re back to square one and it’s frustrating as fuck. But she’s doing really well.

The other day it was cold and raining so I had to come up with something my 3 1/2 year-old and I could do. I’m not a very crafty mofo but I had the idea of making a robot helmet.

Thank you, Pinterest! You just need some simple materials to make a robot helmet and let your child’s imagination run wild.

FYI, you’ll probably be doing most of the work but it’s still fun to make when you’re drunk. It goes nice with red wine, moms and dads. A big bottle glass of red wine.

What you’ll need:

pipe cleaners

tape to attach “antennas”

aluminum foil

small box

elmer’s glue

miscellaneous items to decorate the helmet (pipe cleaners, stickers, markers, paint, cotton balls, construction paper cut-outs, etc.)

Cut the flaps off of the box.

Cut a window on one side of the box.

Let your child cover the box with glue, one side at a time.

Apply the aluminum foil on the box. This part may be tricky when doing this with your child but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

When the helmet is completely covered with foil, let your child decorate their little hearts out with different embellishments.

This next part is very important. When nobody is looking, put the robot helmet on, do the robot dance, and sing Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto. Yes, I did that. I couldn’t resist!

Who doesn’t need a robot helmet?? I am terrible at crafts but this one seems doable. I might have to try it. (For my child, not just for me. Mostly.)
