I’m so heavy hearted. Truth is, just last month I saw that he had been back in rehab. and I thought, “Wasn’t he just in the papers recently for that this summer? It can’t be good.” I remembered reading about his childhood. I thought, “What a hard life.” Then, I realized how we all have our crosses to bear, and a smile might mask the symptoms, and we all need to be there just a little more than we want to some times.

I am grateful that I don’t suffer with depression. I have extreme anxiety that keeps me from entering gas stations, banks, elevators, highway drives that might leave me in gridlock (hard to do in Atlanta) and airplanes. I don’t even like to lock bathroom doors in public places- incase I get locked in and well….. All I can say is, I will take my cross, fight and struggle with it, over not having the opportunity to be with the reason I breathe, my family.

Rest in peace, and may your family find solace in knowing that you are not struggling here, anymore.

so tragic. depression and addiction can kill. how many times will we hear this same story before everyone can wake up to the reality? such a loss of talent. so sad.

My heart broke in a million pieces when I’d heard. So terribly sad. The only hope I have is that this will move us toward greater understanding so desperately lacking.

Thanks for sharing Jen’s beautiful post! And I love the photo of Robin that you chose as well. Amazing man, so much a part of our underpinnings, right? “Oh, there you are Peter,” “Oh Captain, my Captain,” and so many others woven into our vernacular, and our consciousness, reminding us of our humanity.
