Finding Lost Soccer Socks And Shin Guards Twice A Week Will Be The Death Of Me

Every soccer season is dreadful because it ends up being so time-consuming. I love that the hummingbird enjoys playing but her weekly practices are late and by the time the season is over with, I freeze my ass off and it’s dark when practice is done.

Then, there’s the games. We got lucky because most of her games are at 8:15 in the morning. 8 fucking 15 on a Saturday morning. That’s crazy for me. The most annoying part of her playing soccer is that two days a week I tell her the same thing over and over and over again.

Put the soccer gear in the same place every time so we know where it is.

I don’t know if it’s little mischievous soccer fairies that move these things around but by the time we’re in a rush to go to practice or a game, we can’t find her stuff.

It will be by the door one day and the next, it’ll be gone. She’ll have no idea where it is and I’ll rip the house apart while yelling in my head that soccer sucks and it’s not worth the frustration week after week and year after year.

I hate the fucking soccer season.

I had three boys on three different teams for years, hated soccer, so boring, especially when you realize that there is only one good coach and his team is the only one that will get better throughout the season. I was very glad when my kids moved to playing fall ball (baseball) instead of soccer.

I’m a soccer/lacrosse mom for 2 boys now for 15 years. I FEEL ya! However, now they are older but STILL lose their shit all the time and it’s always mom to the rescue! Reason #357 why I continue drinking. 🙂

OMG – yes! Daughter plays soccer x 198278637!! years. Thank goodness she can now manage her stuff (at age 14) but perhaps the 1,000 pairs of soccer socks and shin guards we have accrued over the years helps. The downside of high school soccer is the 7 am practice necessitating a 620 departure. 6:20! In the dark morning!! Followed by after school practice w the varsity. Then the onset of game season and three (THREE) AWAY games on weekdays this week. ARRRRUGH!!! I’m operating on pure caffeine.
On the other hand…my son (younger) now plays lacrosse. Gear explosion! GLOVES. ARM GUARDS. SHOULDER PADS. HELMET. CUP.CLEATS. JERSEY. MOUTHGUARD. ATTACK STICK. DEFENSE STICK. With any of these things absent, he’s not cleared to play. Lost a NEW ($50) arm guard … just one… at the first game, day before an AWAY game 2 hrs away. OH NO YOU DIDN’T…
Soccer gear bag? I miss you.
    Kill me now.
